The Rico Products Journey

Rico Products was founded in 1982 by Scott Rico and his father, technologists with a passion for solving complex manufacturing challenges. The company began as a technical sales and distribution partner, connecting manufacturers of advanced polymers with customers who needed expert application support.

As electronics evolved in the 1990s, the demand for effective thermal management accelerated. Rico Products expanded its polymer expertise into thermal interface materials (TIMs), which became essential for managing heat in high-power, high-performance applications.

But processing TIMs introduced new production challenges. Their high viscosity made them difficult to mix, dispense and fabricate, while abrasive filler content caused excessive wear on tooling and equipment. As a result, the industry lacked capable fabrication partners.

Recognizing this gap, Rico Products evolved beyond materials distribution by developing  specialized in-house manufacturing capabilities. The company invested in custom die-cutting, molding, and extrusion equipment, as well as tool fabrication, specifically engineered for the demands of TIM fabrication.

Today Rico Products operates a 30,000 sq. ft. production facility focused on transforming advanced thermal management materials into precision-engineered, production-ready components through specialized conversion, custom fabrication, process innovation, and technical expertise.

From Heat Challenges to Success Stories

Heat Challenges to Success Image 1-Rico Partners with Henkel

Rico Products partners with Henkel LOCTITE® & Bergquist® to deliver a broad range of thermal gap pads designed for efficient heat dissipation from high-power semiconductor devices. Our team works closely with design engineers to simplify material selection and identify the right TIM for each application’s specific needs. We then produce precision die-cut parts for seamless integration into the customer’s assembly process. This approach improves thermal performance, simplifies assembly, and enhances product reliability.

Heat Challenges

Rico Products partners with Sheldahl Flexible Technologies to deliver high-performance flexible circuit solutions for demanding automotive LED applications. Sheldahl’s Q-Prime® copper-aluminum composite, a unique, flexible, high-density interconnect (HDI) solution engineered to handle high current and extreme temperatures, improves the reliability of vehicle headlamps, heads-up displays, indicators, and interior lighting. Rico Products is pleased to offer this advanced technology to automotive OEMs.

Heat Challenges

As demand for higher-power compact motors pushes operating temperatures beyond 150°C, the risk of magnetic saturation, overheating and short circuits increases. Rico Products partners with Kisling to deliver thermally conductive resins that improve heat management in small electric motors. During assembly, these resins are dispensed into the stator, flow around the copper windings to fill the cavity, replacing air with thermally conductive material. The result is lower stator temperature, increased power density, and improved mechanical stability.
